“Merhaba” ist die Begrüßung in Marokko, einem Land, das ebenso weit vom Nahen Osten wie von Deutschland entfernt liegt und dennoch in uns Bilder aus dem Orient weckt, Geschichten aus Tausendundeiner Nacht , ein Land das wir mit fremdartigen Sitten und fremder Religion verbinden, ein anderes Jahrhundert, vielleicht sogar ein anderes Jahrtausend. Und gerade Marokko ist eines der am meisten europäisch geprägten Länder der arabischen Welt.

“Merhaba” is the traditional greeting in Morocco, a land which is just as distant from the Middle East as it is from Germany and yet still invokes in our minds images of the Orient and tales from One Thousand and One Nights, a land which we associate with strange customs and a foreign religion, another century and perhaps even another millennium. In spite of this, Morocco is in fact one of the countries with the strongest European influence in the Arab world.

"Merhaba" est le terme que l’on emploie pour se saluer au Maroc, un pays certes aussi éloigné du Proche-Orient que de l’Allemagne, mais qui éveille en nous des images de l’Orient, les contes des Mille et Une Nuits. Nous l’associons à des mœurs exotiques et à une religion étrangère ; à un autre siècle, voire à un autre millénaire. Le Maroc, justement, est un des pays du monde arabe les plus marqués par l’Europe.
