There is a text, an interesting and worth considering creation story, written by François Maher Presley. The graphic artist Winfried Wolk gives it a pictorial interpretation in seven graphic sheets. He not only converts legible text sequences into meaningful images, but also finds unusual forms and combinations in his free interpretations as he feels the text requires. He divides the printing plates of the colored etchings, creates his own world as a sum of individual parts and thus finds a valid form. The colors suggest earthiness and mysticism.
If the colored etchings are impressive just because of their technical brilliance, he creates a hitherto unique artistic and technical constellation in a variation of the theme in an edition of five copies by combining etching with digitally processed and printed image backgrounds.
He assigns the concreteness of photographic objectivity and difficult color surfaces to the free drypoint line and the lively aquatint structure and thus achieves an astonishing effect. The innovative interweaving of traditional with digital image processing and printing technology is an absolute novelty. The sheets created in this way enable viewing experiences that are quite unique and unusual, a Wolk-like creation story.
